Featured Auction Item: Breakers Staycation In Palm Beach

802-220x220-whiteJoin us for our annual dinner auction on Friday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the Kennedy Fellowship Hall for Adventure Awaits, Come Away with WA! Our featured item this week is Item #802: The Breakers Palm Beach Staycation! This package includes a two-night/three-day stay for two at the beautiful Breakers in Palm Beach, a golf twosome at either of their golf courses (includes green fees and cart fees), a certificate for Café Delamar, and a certificate for a West Palm Beach Food Tour.

  • The lower school grade with the most participation will have an ice cream party. Parents can donate towards the grade level basket, donate a $25 gift card/item or acquire a gift certificate/item for the auction.
  • All middle school students who acquire a $25 gift certificate or item for the auction will be allowed to wear jeans on a designated day in February.
  • All high school students who make a donation of a $25 gift card/item or acquire a gift certificate/item for the auction will receive community service hours. Two hours will be awarded for each $25 gift card/item with a maximum of 6 community service hours.

One Cup with Mr. Satterly—February 1

OneCupLogoOur Parent Teacher Fellowship welcomes you to join Mr. Satterly for coffee and pastries on Thursday, February 1, at 8:00 a.m. in Gangway (entry from the southwest corner of the church). This quarterly event, designed for busy parents, is an opportunity to gather in an informal setting to discuss a parenting topic in about the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee, immediately following drop-off. We will end promptly at 8:45 a.m. to honor your time, but you are welcome to stay beyond that time to connect with Mr. Satterly and other parents.

Mr. Satterly will be sharing thoughts from Good Faith by David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons. The authors guide fellow Christians to understand the heart behind opposing views and show them how to be loving, life-giving friends despite profound differences. Winter Court Game This Friday!

Join us tomorrow night for the Winter Court basketball games and festivities.

Excitement has been building all week as students dressed up for spirit days and decorated the halls for Winter Court Week. Come out and support your Lions Basketball players tomorrow night, Friday, January 19, as they play the Somerset Canyons. JV Men play at 4:00 p.m., Varsity Ladies play at 5:30 p.m. and the Varsity Men’s game starts at 7:00 p.m.

At the conclusion of the varsity game, WA Alumni and Faculty take to the court for the Annual Lions’ Knockout Basketball Game.

The Homecoming king and queen will be announced at the Winter Court basketball game. The entire court is listed below.

Become An Auction Sponsor

Come away with WA at our annual dinner auction, Adventure Awaits, on Friday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kennedy Fellowship Hall. This is our largest fundraising event of the year, so please get involved! Our goal is for sponsorships and underwriting to cover all of our expenses so that all funds raised at the auction go directly to the Dr. Kenneth P. Wackes Media Center renovation. We encourage all of our families to get involved by acquiring items. There are incentives for students including an ice cream party for Lower School, a jeans day for Middle School and community service hours for High School. Click here to download acquisition forms which are also available in the lower and upper school offices. You may return the acquisition form with the gift card/item to Lynn Barbar in the Development Office so we can thank the donor and give your child credit for the gift. Lower school class basket items should be turned in to your child’s teacher.

Rio Vista Community Church Invites Moms To Divine MOMedy2

MOMSFor the second year, Rio Vista Community Church is proud to present an evening of entertainment for women with guest comedienne, Dede Lomenick. “The Divine MOMedy2—The Mother Lode” will be a hilarious night of comedy and music as Dede shares all-new material on Friday, January 19, at 7:00 p.m.

To get an idea of the fun, view clips from last year’s show or visit Rio Vista’s Facebook page.

Tickets are available to purchase here for $20.00 or $15.00 (for groups of 10+). Included in the price is a reception with food and dessert. Tickets will also be available at the door for $25.00, dependent on space.

All proceeds benefit Moms on a Mission, a ministry of Rio Vista Community Church.
