Since graduation is on the horizon, we celebrate the opportunity three of our seniors have at Gordon College.Each year, the Gordon Global Honors Institute appoints 12 incoming freshmen from among many applicants for one of three programs. The Global Honors Scholars, A.J. Gordon Scholars, and Clarendon Scholars are three unique four-year honors scholarship programs and additional honors offerings for students that extend beyond their first year at Gordon College.We congratulate seniors Sofia Camejo chosen for the Clarendon Program, Trace Reynolds for the A.J. Surrounded by teammates, coaches, and family, Westminster Academy Lions soccer player, Camryn Pagliaro, signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and play soccer in the 2018–19 season at North Greenville University. “Camryn Pagliaro exhibits leadership qualities that are transparent through her leadership and administrative attention to the team. Her guidance to her teammates shapes a cohesiveness that is exhibited in their competitiveness on the field. Senior swimmer, Jessica Nava, was invited onto the basketball court Saturday night, February 3, during half-time of the WA Lions vs. Montverde Academy Eagles game. Jessica was awarded and named the 2017 Girls Class 1A Swimmer of the Year in the entire state of Florida. This award came from the Florida Dairy Farmers Association, a sponsor of FHSAA sports since 1992, who plays a key role in acknowledging and awarding special recognition to athletes throughout the state. Each year, the Dairy Farmers Association selects one senior to receive the highest honor in Florida among all student-athletes in their respective sport....

Last week was full of school spirit in honor of Winter Court with dress-up days, the Winter Court presentation, and Friday’s pep rally. All festivities led up to the WA Lions basketball game on Friday, January 19, against the Somerset Academy Canyons.The Lions entered the game with six consecutive wins, most recently against Calvary Christian, and wanted to add another to that record. The high-scoring game proved this goal was attainable. Winter Court week ended with a Lions’ win: 89-51. More unpredictable might have been the halftime presentation of this year’s Winter Court. The Sun-Sentinel recently unveiled their top preseason picks for the best basketball players in Broward County which included WA senior, Zach Scott. This group, known as the “Fab 5” includes players from all schools in the county, regardless of FHSAA classification.Zach has signed to play basketball at Florida Gulf Coast University and is the 19th-ranked senior prospect in Florida. Zach helped the Westminster Academy Lions clinch the Class 4A State Championship last year. Way to go Zach, and go Lions! ...
