Alumni Mothers’ Luncheon Recap

September 14, 2016 Posted in: School News Tags: , ,

On Tuesday, September 13, we welcomed back our class of 2015 and 2016 alumni mothers to join us for our 4th Annual Alumni Mothers’ Luncheon. Nearly forty ladies attended this special time of fellowship over a lovely lunch in the Kennedy Fellowship Hall. Mrs. Diane Kanell, mother and grandmother of WA alumni and former school board member was the guest speaker. She encouraged the mothers with wisdom from God’s Word and used the story of Moses as a reminder that parents must entrust their children to God’s care as they send them off to college. Special thanks to Blair Critch for sponsoring this event! Feel your best and thrive with Blair! For more information, visit floridahealth.le-vel.com/.

We love our alumni and their families and desire to see them continue to be part of our WA community! If you would like your college freshman to receive a care package, please e-mail Sandy Hall at halls@wa.edu with your child’s contact information. Each year Mrs. Hall’s first grade class lovingly prepares care packages for our recent graduates to remind them they will always be part of our extended WA community. Sandy recently received a note of appreciation from a young lady having a rough week at college. She was stressed and homesick, then she went to her mailbox and found a brightly decorated box! Walking back to her dorm, everyone was making comments to her and she smiled the rest of the night! If you would like to be part of bringing a smile to the face of one of our alumni in college, please click here to sponsor a care package for $15 a student and mention “care package” in the comments section.

Senior Chapel and Luncheon with Alumni

May 6, 2015 Posted in: School News Tags: , , , ,

On Tuesday, May 5, the annual Senior Chapel was held in the CRPC Sanctuary. It was a special chapel, coordinated by Mr. Jominy, full of hilarious stories and kindhearted commemorations of the class of 2015. The chapel opened up with Mrs. Hall, Alumni Association President, awarding scholarships from the Alumni Association to two deserving seniors: Ashley Aguiar and Jacob Mwangi Mungai.  They won based on their display of leadership and Christ-likeness. Then reflections on memories from the past and many funny stories were shared with videos and pictures.  Mr. Jominy closed the chapel with a video of each of the students’ handprints painted on a classroom wall along with some thoughtful words that teachers used to describe each student. Following the chapel, the Alumni Association put on a delicious luncheon in Bay D with Laspadas subs and great advice from a few WA alumni. Taylor Sasser ’11, Alex Bushman ’10, Devin Pierce ’97, and Mike Critch Jr. ’08, each with different backgrounds and stories, explained to the seniors the huge environment change they will be met with in college and the importance of leading a life for Christ. The class of 2015 was welcomed into the alumni association and encouraged to stay connected with their roots at WA.
