Alumni Mothers’ Luncheon

September 30, 2015 Posted in: School News Tags: , , , ,

IMG_1207On Tuesday, September 29, we welcomed back our class of 2014 and 2015 alumni mothers to join us for our 3rd Annual Alumni Mothers’ Luncheon. Over forty ladies attended this special time of fellowship over a lovely lunch in the Kennedy Fellowship Hall. Mrs. Rosemary Barnes, mother of WA alumni, Torrey Barnes ’97 Roberts and Robey Barnes ’00, was the guest speaker. Rosemary and her husband, Bob have authored ten books on parenting and marriage and spoken across the USA and internationally. She encouraged the mothers with wisdom from God’s Word and sharing her personal experiences through the many seasons of motherhood.

We love our alumni and their families and desire to see them continue to be part of our WA community! If you would like your college freshman to receive a care package, please e-mail Sandy Hall at halls@wa.edu with your child’s contact information. Each year Mrs. Hall’s first grade class lovingly prepares care packages for our recent graduates to remind them they will always be part of our extended WA community.

Alumni V’s Faculty Winter Homecoming Basketball Victory

January 29, 2015 Posted in: Athletics, School News Tags: , ,

Alumni- Winter COurt BasketballImmediately following the WA Winter Homecoming basketball game on Saturday, January 24, it was apparent that two superior teams were warming up on the court. The alumni and faculty!

Hitting threes, making lay-ups, and the occasional warm-up dunk energized the crowd. Throughout the game the faculty gave it their all, but fell short against the alumni. Despite their defeat, faculty player and ladies basketball coach Shannon Wallhoff, electrified the court at times with the assistance of her husband Ehren. For the alumni, Raymond Sharp with his steals and fast break points seemed to be too much to handle. The alumni three-point wizards Trevor Kopas and MCJ (Micheal Critch Junior) dominated the mid-range shots, which helped to secure the victory.

Well done alumni Lions!

Advanced Placement (AP) Scores Are In!

September 4, 2014 Posted in: Academics Tags: , , ,

Screen Shot 2014-09-04 at 8.13.56 AMAdvanced Placement (AP) scores are in! You may view/download our students’ summary scores here.

Students who take college-level AP courses in high school take a national exam in May. The scoring on this national exam is from 1-5, with 5 being the highest. If a student scores a 3 or above, they are eligible to receive college credit for the course.

Most of our students who take AP exams, score a 3 or above, and graduate from WA with numerous college credits. Many of our graduates enter college as second semester freshman, and some even enter as first year sophomores. AP scores along with ACT and SAT scores are a great for way for Christ-centered, college preparatory schools to measure academic success and excellence against a national standard.

At WA, our students consistently score higher on all three of these standardized exams (AP, ACT & SAT) than Florida, national and international students as reported by the College Board. As you read through the attached scores, you will see that once again our students excelled with their intellectual gifts and talents at the highest level. For more information about our seniors and their academic accomplishments, please view/download our Celebrating God’s Work in the Class of 2014 publication.

Please contact Mike Critch, high school principal, Diane Showalter, academic dean and middle school principal, Christine Englert, high school counselor or Sharon Curlee, college placement director, if you have any questions or need additional information.

Praise God for His amazing grace and goodness at WA. We also want to send a very special thank you to all of our AP students and teachers for a job well done.

Congratulations To Our 2014 AP Scholars!
