Middle School Orchestra & Chorus Concert

December 16, 2015 Posted in: Arts Tags: , , ,

IMG_7725On Tuesday, December 15, the middle school orchestra and choral students brought the Christmas season to life with their annual Christmas Concert. This year the concert was held in the morning as a special presentation for their classmates and our lower school students.

Parents enjoyed a brief continental breakfast before the concert and were treated to festive Christmas pieces from three orchestra groups and the entire middle school choir. The program was closed by two members of the middle school chapel worship team singing their arrangement of “O Come All Ye Faithful.”

From all of the middle school Fine Arts students to the entire WA community: Merry Christmas!

Spring Choral Concert Date Change

April 16, 2015 Posted in: School News Tags:

At WA, our students are very active in numerous co-curricular activities, including athletics, robotics, service clubs and community service volunteer work. Because of their busy schedules, we sometimes find conflicts arise. The dates for the State track meet conflicted with our Spring Choral Concert. Therefore, we have arranged the schedule so that we can maximize the students’ participation in track and the concert.

The Spring Choral Concert will be now held on Tuesday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kennedy Fellowship Hall. The entire schedule for the evening will be:

  • 5:30 p.m. – Juried Art Show (former Bookstore adjacent to Fellowship Hall)
  • 6:30 p.m. – Spring Orchestra Concert – Kennedy Fellowship Hall
  • 7:30 p.m. – Spring Choral Concert – Kennedy Fellowship Hall

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you at the Art Show and concerts.

Choir And Jazz Band Disney Trip

March 26, 2015 Posted in: Arts Tags: , ,

IMG_0732On Monday, March 23, the Westminster Academy Choir and Jazz Band were given the chance to perform in the most magical place on Earth—Disney World. The night they arrived, they went to Medieval Times for dinner and a show. Later, the choir students had a practice and the jazz band went to the hotels to prepare for their early morning performance at Epcot. The choir went to Magic Kingdom first, performed at Epcot, and then went back to Magic Kingdom. Alexis Quintana, Jr. spoke on behalf of her fellow students saying, “I liked performing at Disney World because I got to go to Disney World.” Students arrived home on Tuesday night and were all back to their normal school routines on Wednesday. Way to go Choir and Jazz Band Lions!

A Cappella Choir Sings National Anthem At Marlins Game

May 8, 2014 Posted in: Arts Tags: ,
A Cappella At Marlins ParkWell done, to our A Cappella Choir! They were invited to sing the National Anthem on Thursday, May 1, at the Marlins Ballpark to kick off the game as the Florida Marlins took on the Atlanta Braves. They traveled to the game in style on the Marlins Fan Bus and did a phenomenal job of singing the Anthem. After singing they stayed to watch the game, as the Marlins beat the Braves 5 to 4! Bravo once again to this super-talented group of young people.
