Concert Band Shares The Joy Of Music In Puerto Rico

March 19, 2014 Posted in: Arts Tags:

Concert-Band-Puerto-Rico2WA’s Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Jeff Carroll, traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico during Spring Break for a performance tour. Their five-day tour consisted of events in conjunction with the United States National Park Service at Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo de San Cristobal historic forts. In addition to their National Park performances, the band performed at the Puerto Rico Christian School in Levittown and the Tasis School in Dorado where they encouraged Tasis students to participate in their own school band program by demonstrating instruments and by their outstanding performance.

In addition to the performances, the band had the opportunity to take in the sights with an after-hours private tour of Fort Morro, concluding with a climb up the stairs to the lighthouse located there. Also, after their performance at Fort San Cristobal, they were able tour that fortress as well as Old San Juan.

Besides seeing the historical sites, the band was able to tour and learn about the diverse and unique ecosystem found in the Rio Camuy Cave Park and the El Yunque National Rain Forest areas of Puerto Rico.

Special thanks and congratulations go to our Concert Band students for their outstanding performances and for the way they represented Christ, our school, community and country. Also, thank you to our parents and chaperones for their exceptional support.

Winter Homecoming 2014

HOCO King&Queen

The Men’s JV and Varsity Basketball teams both had victories on Saturday, January 25, and Coach Wallhoff was honored with a plaque commemorating his 200th win that occurred earlier in the season, as the head varsity basketball coach at WA! We are also very grateful for the alumni and Kingdom workers who participated in the annual Alumni vs Faculty Basketball game to end the evening.
We would also like to congratulate, all of the students who were chosen by their peers to represent their Class and WA. Kurt Shiple was chosen as king and  Alex Pagliaro was chosen as queen of the 2014 Winter Homecoming Court. Way to go Kurt and Alex!

A special thanks to our A Cappella Choir and Jazz Band for their exceptional performances.

The Winter Homecoming Court week and especially the game and court festivities were a blessed time of fun and fellowship at WA. It was a great reminder of how blessed we are to be called by God to a learning community of believers, and how fun it is, to be a WA Lion!

Praise God for His students, teachers, staff members, coaches, volunteers, alumni, fans, parents, grandparents, donors and friends of WA.
