The Spring Fine Arts Series concluded the year for our talented students with three evening performances. The series began with the Orchestra Concert on Tuesday, April 24, and featured our fifth-grade through twelfth-grade string players. Mr. Schwartz honored his nine graduating seniors who have been with him for nine years. They also shared a video of the Orchestra's recent trip to Ireland and presented Mr. Schwartz with a gift. WA Senior, MaryGrace Adamson, represented the WA Concert Band as one of 17 clarinet players selected in a competitive audition to participate in the All-County High School Honor Band. All public and private schools in Broward County were invited to audition; therefore, being selected is one of the highest honors student-musicians can achieve. MaryGrace performed with the 120-piece band at the Coral Springs Performing Arts Theater on Tuesday, January 30, to a full auditorium under the direction of Dr. Brian Wuttke. A familiar face is walking the WA halls with a new purpose. This week we welcome back Mrs. Lisa Wilson as our Director of Fine Arts. Mrs. Wilson is a graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, having studied organ with Robert Carwithen and conducting with Joseph Flummerfelt. She spent 12 years as the Upper School Chorus Teacher before moving to Augusta, Georgia. She was instrumental in forming the fine arts program at WA, where under her direction, the choir consistently won superior awards in national competitions and performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and famous European...

The Westminster Academy High School Concert Band, Concert Orchestra, and Choirs will be present a special Christmas program, “Lessons & Carols,” on Tuesday, December 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. The program is based on “A Festival of Lessons and Carols” first held on Christmas Eve in 1918 at King’s College in England. Over the years the order service has been adapted and presented by many schools and churches around the world.
