Fall sports are off to a great start! Makes plans to cheer on our Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Swimming & Diving, and Volleyball Lions! View our athletic calendar for listings of all of our athletic events.
The Lions Cross Country program looks forward to a strong season with their large and dedicated roster. The team welcomes many new faces along with solid, experienced returners. Both Men’s and Ladies’ teams ranked high in the Florida Athletic Coaches Associations’ weekly poll in the Class 1A division with the men’s team ranking 5th and the ladies’ ranking 10th out of 125 competing schools.
The Lions Varsity Football team is taking their “Be Great” theme to heart already this fall as they kicked off the season with a comeback victory against the University School Sharks with a 21–17 win. Although the team lost a hard fought battle against Key West High School last week, quarterback Drew Shiple was given great recognition for his performance in the game as he was named a Top Performer of the Week in The Sun Sentinel. Also, our Lions Varsity Cheer team has done a great job promoting school spirit and pumping the team up for their games with their ‘Ball Buddy’ gifts and enthusiastic spirit.
The Varsity Golf team kicked their season off last week with a tri‐match against Cardinal Gibbons and Pine Crest where the team showed much promise and excitement for the season. The squad looks forward to a competitive and successful season.
Swimming and Diving
The Aquatic Lions had their first relay meet last week where they hosted eight schools. Some highlights from the meet were the first place finishes from the Ladies’ 200 Medley relay team of Jackie Nava, Jessica Nava, Jo‐Jo Richter, and Amanda Wood as well as the Men’s 400 Free Relay team of Christian Henderson, Tiago Pereira, Chase Perry and Adam Warters.
The Lady Lions Volleyball team is off to a solid start having notched a big win this past Tuesday against Chaminade‐Madonna in a close, five‐game match. The team is currently 1–0 in District play and is faced with a tough schedule this season to help prepare them for the strong postseason finish they anticipate to have.
